Being a fan of underrated games in general, I'm interested in underrated or little known GBA games.
My favorite is Shining Soul II. This is a Diablo-style action RPG with several different characters you can play as, each with their own skill tree and progression. Different characters seem to play very differently, always important in these types of games. A great little game to while away the time.

Yeah, you stole my PSone thread idea. But I'm over it. You replied to mine so I'll reply to yours.
You remember when TMNT come out a few months ago for every system known to man? You remember all the 6.4 scores (not to mention the 3.4 PSP review, eww)? But one system some how got a 8.1 and that was the GBA. I know, WTF. Well, it turns due the systems low power (a blessing in disguise) they did a classic beat-em-up that's right on the money. The problem is because it's on a dead system, no one bought the game. In turn, no one has it for trade on goozex. But you might want to think about ebaying it. The game's stock might increase in a few years.
The problem with a thread like this one...is that in this era with the internet and games being so widely recognized as being under-rated..that some games are so under-rated that they quickly become over-rated. I think that the biggest case in point, though not a GBA game, is ICO. A incredible game, but it just became the uber-nerd test for gamers. It's a great, great game...but it is hardly the greatest game of all time, as it is often labelled.
In any event, back on topic. Is Ninja Cop even considered underrated, anymore? It is a great Bionic Commando clone...and a great, great 80s type game. But I would also throw in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. Normally traditional 2d Castlevania games are universally lauded, but I think that because of the dark colors and the non back-lit screen on the original GBA...this game has been long since neglected by many. Now with the super back-lit screens and the bright DSs, I think that anyone that hasn't given it a go should get it.
Goozex Forum Moderator I'm reading: nothing I'm watching: Becoming Jane I'm listening to: Eric Hutchinson & Marie Digby Join the Folding@Home Goozex team: Team Goozex #80197 We're talking to you PS3 and PC users.
Never heard of Ninja Cop, ever. Sounds like a keeper. Can you request gooxez to add to the trade list?
Edit: I found it. It's called Ninja Five-O in America and has a hell of a waiting line.

Fair enough :)
I read somewhere that Ninja Five-O or whatever is worth a ton on ebay. Anyone know if that's true? The points value here is pretty low, so there may be a disconnect and that's why there aren't any copies...
Sorry, my bad. Ninja Five-O. I think that it's called Ninja Cop in other regions. If you all haven't heard of that one, I've got a bunch of games that I can share with you all. I'll post in the next few days with a list of some gems along the same vein.
I don't think of Shining Soul II as under-rated - it was highly regarded by most people I know.
My list is entirely recent stuff since that really gets overlooked.:
- Summon Knight Sword Story 1 & 2
- Mazes of Fate (available through eBay & Amazon only, classic Wizardry-like RPG)
- Larry Boy GBA game - much more fun than it should be (but plays like a kiddie game, so be aware)

Astro Boy: Omega Factor is another that came out with a bong. Good reviews and talked about on podcasts and video game shows. The a month later, fell off the face of the earth. I haven't personally played it, but I would be all over it if ever up for trade.
Riviera
Golden Sun I and II (though both are highly regarded in many circles)
Astro Boy
Ninja Five-O
Drill Dozer
Scurge Hive
TMNT
Silent Scope
Rayman
Tactics Ogre
Gunstar Super Heroes
Summon Night
Karnaaj Rally
Car Battler Joe
It's Mr. Pants
I have to agree 100% with Golden Sun I and II... those are 2 great games
A.K.A.: Fa-Q, NinjaGrunt, ChoochMJD, ChoochCP, GoozexMJD, Mirshka, Horabelas
Chooch:I have to agree 100% with Golden Sun I and II... those are 2 great games
But are also generally recognized as two of the best games on the system - how is that under-rated?
Same with Riviera - it was well regarded enough to be getting a PSP remake!
controlcommerce:Or am I talking out of my ass?
no sir, you're definitely talking out your north hole, not your south...
but in lurk's defense, he said in parentheses "both are highly regarded in many circles"
Golden Sun I and II were famed titles for the GBA, however i say underrated because when i was looking for some collectors items they weren't as popular (i.e. a sweet poster)
Has anyone played Goemon: New Age Shutsudou! ? I'm a Legend of the Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon fan and am curious if anyone played/owns this game...
Thanks for the defense Chooch....
but after some more thought, I really doubt that the average GBA person has played or even heard of the Golden Sun series or Riviera. These are games that should have sold like Final Fantasy series...but they didn't because of poor name recognition and limited release. So I'll stand by claim that they are under-rated. Golden Sun I and II especially. These are some of the best games that have come out regardless of system, but they are seldom spoken of outside of its rabid fans.
The just to play semantic PITA I'll say that they are 'overlooked' and not under-rated, as they are 'rated' in the top 10 for the platform ;)
Tactics Ogre is similarly high-rated but very rare. And Riviera ... which I'm glad I got when I did.
