I've never been into the whole World War shooter genre since I already know the outcome from history. But the developers of COD 4 took the Call of Duty series in a whole different direction. This time, they are approaching it in modern times and they do it pretty damn good. Despite the story being very short, it had my attention all the way through the game. It has been a while since I attempted to play through a game in as few sittings (this one in two days). The multiplayer is definitely the way online play should be. Fast, simple, and incredibly fun. I love the ranking system, 55 max, but you can turn that in for prestige mode insignias or something. It is not hard to believe that this game would dominate many game review sites as Game of the Year. The graphics are incredible, the story is immersive, the gameplay is tons of fun, and having the ability to unlock rank/weapons is addictingThere are a few things they should have worked on. For me, I wish there was a longer story mode, the AI should be more helpful, and there should be a cover system. The story mode averages 7-8 hours. The AI does not protect your flank. There is no cover system. But I guess the cover system would detract from the fast-paced action of this game.Great game overall. I give it 9/10. Pick it up and have fun. There have been many sales and I'm happy to have picked this up for 35 bucks. ^__^
